As we move further into the Aquarian Age, our sensibilities are shifted in subtle and not-so-subtle ways. We are mostly influenced by the vibrational changes that happen automatically when one constellation leaves (Pisces) and another takes over (Aquarius) in teaching us two-thousand-year-long lessons. In more immediate ways, the planets in our solar system affect us on a day-to-day basis, helping us adjust to the new vibrations by challenging us. The fastest way to grow and learn is through challenge.
Inner planets (Mercury, Venus and Mars) make a huge impact because they are the closest to us. Their cycles hit quick, do their work and leave just as quickly. We’ll see a lot of that with all three going retrograde later this year (more on that coming up in a future post). The outer planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto) have a deeper and slower effect.
We can see this in the fifteen-to-sixteen year cycle of Pluto in Capricorn which started in 2008 and runs until 2023/24. That is giving us the first master class in the Aquarian Age, bringing revolution and a new way to understand authoritarian influence. The last time Pluto was in Capricorn was during the American Revolution. Those born in that time then went on to have the French Revolution. And aren’t we in a revolution of our own right now? Check out my post on “Pluto in Capricorn 2008 to 2023 on my website, or, since it was from quite a while ago and may be hard to find, email a request to me (email@example.com) and I’ll send a copy.
Coming up this week, we have a New Moon on Tuesday, May 15, and Uranus moves into Taurus. Even though Uranus is an outer planet and so has a deeper effect, it certainly doesn’t seem slow. It’s the planet of explosive, sudden and intense change – something we really need now. Even though our progress is naturally accelerated in this Age-to-Age transition, while we’re living through it, it can seem to take forever. With Uranus in Taurus coinciding with a New Moon (and supporting the work Pluto in Capricorn is doing), we have a new beginning of explosive change. Or, a new beginning in everyone on the planet being forced to grow up and face things certain individuals have been hoping to avoid.
I turn this space over now to Master Astrologer Gahl Sasson for his brilliant and helpful article on Uranus in Taurus. Gahl writes:
Uranus (technology, revolution) is moving into Taurus (economy, values) on May 15, right on the New Moon. This makes the transit far more powerful as it begins on a powerful exalted New Moon. Ten days later, the new EU’s Data Protection Act takes hold. It will change the face of marketing and e-commerce all around the world.
Uranus, the planet of unpredictability, the Joker, the Fool, is moving for the first time in 84 years into Taurus, the sign of finance, and will stay there until 2026. This transit is expected to shake the financial markets, the economy, as well as generate some revolutions, reshuffle our core values, artistic expression, and sense of security. Since Taurus is also associated with Mother Nature, you can expect some natural disasters and weather patterns shifting even more than before. The next eight years we will experience a strong change in our values and attitudes towards planet Earth as well as our environment.
Who is Uranus
In the Tarot cards, Uranus is depicted as the Fool. He is funny, naive, unpredictable, and fearless. He is the idiot who is also a genius. He is associated with chaos, disorder, spontaneity, innovation and revolutions. Uranus wants to free us from that which we think we know. Uranus is a cosmic Socrates who reminds us that the only thing we know is that we do not know.
Uranus ignites revolutions and awaken us. It is the ruler of groups, friendships, altruism and nonprofits. He is also associated with technology and patents.
Uranus was discovered in 1781 right at the eve of the French and American revolutions and at the onset of the Industrial Revolution. Is Uranus good or bad? He is both and neither. He is fluctuating, and functions as a reboot button to systems and orders. In fact if your age is between 20-22; 40-43; 60-62 and 82-84 you are feeling the effects of Uranus. These ages relate to cycles of Uranus and they bring about his nature into our personal life.
Uranus in Aries (2010-2018)
Astrology is not a fortune-telling tool. She is the keeper of cycles and archives. She is the architect of time. Astrology is not here to tell us what will happen for this is up to us. Astrology is here to identify, trace, connect and explain cycles. It is a chart that helps us navigate time and space, but it is not the captain of the spacecraft. That role is occupied by you…
We can understand what Uranus in Taurus means if we look first at how Uranus in Aries manifested in our personal life as well as globally. Between 2010-2018 Uranus was in Aries and right when Uranus (Uranium) moved into Aries (fire and explosions) we experienced the Fukushima nuclear disaster. At the same time we witnessed the Arab Spring. Aries is the sign that begins on the first day of Spring and Uranus represents revolution. Indeed from Tunisia to Syria, revolutions and chaos ruled. Uranus in Aries facilitated the rise of Isis, a ruthless and bloody (Aries rules blood) organization that now as Uranus leaves Aries is hopefully a thing of the past. We saw the rise of leaders (Aries is the shepherd) who are dangerously spontaneous, chaotic, rebellious, and unpredictable. In other words, leaders who are jokers.
We witnessed the rise of nationalism and fanaticism. We also witnessed beautiful revolutions. Women speaking up and fighting back against their abusers (Aries is liberation) as well as the rise of the Z generation on the March for Our Lives campaign. Of course some of these processes will continue but as Uranus moves into Taurus, the sign of values, we can expect a great deal of shift in our attitudes and values towards what is important in our lives.
Uranus in Taurus
Uranus in Taurus, the sign of values, finance, art design and music, provides the opportunity to shift and change these aspects of our lives. When the market is doing well, we call it the Bull Market as the bull or cow has always represented wealth, prosperity and security. Uranus is here to shake the tree but Taurus is a fixed earth sign so it is a sign that does not like to move or change. That is why we can expect a great deal of upheaval in the next year or so as Uranus settles in this stubborn fixed earth sign.
History of Uranus in Taurus
As we saw earlier, the cycle of Uranus is 84 years. Last time Uranus was in Taurus was during the Great Depression and World War II. When Uranus was last in Taurus in the U.S. we had the Social Security Act (1935). At the same time, President Franklin D. Roosevelt installed the Banking Act that changed the structure and power distribution in the Federal Reserve System. It was also the time the game Monopoly was created.
What to expect?
- Get your finances in order, try to avoid any radical investments and be extra careful with crypto-currency. Remember, Uranus is technology and Taurus is finance.
- We can expect the Artificial-Intelligence economy to flourish as well as create counter-revolutions. I can see many people (truck drivers, cashier, tellers, factory workers etc) resenting machines for taking over their livelihood
- More and more cyber (Uranus) attacks especially on banks and financial institutions (Taurus).
- Trade wars that began in the last few months could be a precursor of things to come.
- Change in banking system. Maybe the rise of barter-economy. New invention in finance.
- Mother-Nature shaking her body (earthquakes, floods).
- Revolution in fashion and art. New artistic expression that is more digital or revolutionary.
Uranus in Taurus can give us the opportunity to improve our artistic expression, our economy and our leadership. While it is true that Uranus can be disruptive, his nature is to change things that don’t work (like our politicians). Uranus asks us to laugh at ourselves. If you can do it in the next 8 years, you should be fine. Just don’t take things so personally…
Have a great revolution,
I offer this with love and gratitude…
