THE INFLUENCE OF VENUS RETROGRADE MARCH 3 TO APRIL 15

When our inner planets (Mercury, Venus, Mars) retrograde, it always affects us more obviously than the slower, deeper-but-not-obvious-change-inducing outer planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto). We can feel the influence of the inner planets more day-to-day. Hence, I report on those retrogrades to help us maneuver through the difficulties, usually with the help of the most knowledgeable astrologers I know.

So here’s what the inimitable Master Astrologer, Gahl Sasson, has to say on our Venus Retrograde from March 3 to April 15. The last few days of it, from April 9 on (to May 3), Mercury retrogrades too, but more on that when we get closer. Here’s Gahl:

After a year and a half of Venus going direct and showering us with love and happiness, she is about to go retrograde for the next 40 days and 40 nights. Just like the 40 days of Noah’s flood, Elijah’s 40 days in the desert and Jesus’ temptation in the wilderness, Venus retrograde is a time of reflection, patience, forgiveness and waiting for things to unfold. It is a time of testing our values and experiencing trials of love and in relationship. These temptations and sense of emotional floods are not a bad thing. After working with astrology for over two decades, I can confidently say that there is nothing good or bad about any astrological aspect.

Everything happens for a reason and the reason is always growth and development, even if at first you cannot see it. After Noah’s flood a rainbow appeared promising a new era for humanity and a promise that never again the planet will be flooded (hmmm…unless we continue to cause changes in climate and raise sea levels). Elijah became a prophet and found his career clarity after the 40 days in Sinai and Jesus came out of his temptations stronger and with clarity of his path. I believe, mythologically speaking, that all these examples of 40 days of hardship leading to enlightenment happened during Venus Retrograde.

Venus Retrograde offers us an opportunity to reassess our values, relationships, finances and talents. It is our 40 days and nights in the wilderness of our shadow.  We are forced to confront our fears around survival, income, self-worth and how we relate to people. Like the prophets of old, we too are faced with temptations such as being reactive towards our partners, escaping to old dated patterns, hating ourselves, demeaning people who love us due to low self-esteem and other such social disasters.

Mission Statement
Don’t bother with the meaning of life. Let Monty Python deal with that issue. Work on what life means to you and what you mean to your life. The best thing to do during Venus Retrograde is come up with a short and catchy Life Mission Statement. Why are you here? What are your values? What do you want to achieve in this lifetime? Venus Retrograde offers a great opportunity to rephrase your values and purpose in this lifetime. Once you have your mission statement, you can easily determine which partners, work, country, diet, etc. you need that support or is congruent with your life.

Venus Phases
In the first two weeks of Venus Retrograde, Venus will be the Evening Star and she can help us get closure to old relationships. She might make us feel shy, reserved and cause us to pull back to childlike behavior. Am I loved? Am I appreciated? Why do people like or love me?

Then for a few days (around March 25) Venus disappears and begins a new cycle to emerge as the Morning Star. The last two weeks of Venus Retrograde is a bit more intense. People from past lives or our past in this life resurface. We might feel more possessive and dramatic, more jealous and insecure. That is usually the time when extramarital affairs are caught or exposed. So hey, you have been warned!!!

Venus will be retrograding in Aries between now and April 1st and therefore it influences Aries, Libra, Capricorn and Cancer. Between April 2nd to April 15 Venus is retrograding in Pisces and therefore will be flow better as Pisces is the sign of exaltation. However it will influence Pisces, Virgo, Gemini and Sagittarius.

What to expect:

  • Change in your values and what you believe in.
  • Ex lovers or business partners reappearing.
  • Challenges in relationships or businesses/partnerships.
  • Breakups and divorces as well as lawsuits.
  • Hidden enemies exposed.
  • Loss of money and payments delayed.
  • Lack of diplomacy and tact.

What to Avoid:

  • Getting married or signing partnership agreement.
  • Plastic surgeries.
  • Buying art or making big purchases.
  • Starting a new partnership.

Extra Careful Dates
Between April 8 to April 15, Venus will be squaring Saturn. This can make us feel sadness, rejection, financial hardships, bad business decision, and a feeling of abandonment. Between April 17 to 22, we might experience deep disappointment from a partner in life or in work and lack of harmony with co-workers and significant others.

What you Can Do?

  • Divorce and separate from business or life partners.
  • Get out of contract.
  • Change lawyer.
  • Edit music, art project and redesign.
  • Resolve disputes.
  • Heal past relationships.
  • Reconnect to old talents and gifts.
  • Sell things.
  • Buy secondhand products.

Any retrograde planet tends to bring about synchronicities and coincidences revolving the archetype they represent. So get excited for 40 days and 40 nights of change, surprises, roller-coaster with your partners, finance, and artistic expression.

Happy reversed love!

We also have a Full Moon coming on Sunday, March 12. As usual, be aware of increasing emotionality during the end of the week and, this time, of being very critical. While the Venus Retrograde brings us face-to-face with our own values and the way we see love in ourselves and others, the days leading up to the Full Moon will find us getting very touchy, looking at emotional reactions in ourselves and others as if divorcing ourselves from the emotion. We won’t really be unemotionally critical, but we will think we are. So watch self-righteous self-deception creeping in. Try to avoid having any seemingly unemotional Come-to-Jesus meetings about emotional subjects because we won’t be as clear as we think we are.

I offer this with love and gratitude…
